- Rear Spar
Its
all about getting the strengthener bars sorted first using the
scotchbrite wheel. It did not take too long at. These were
then fitted to the spar itself and match drilled down into the
jig. I must of counted the eight hole for the #19 holes
about ten times !!! These holes are drilled to #19 for the
ribs to attach to later.

I then
made a start on match drilling the brackets for the elevator.
I have not riveted the central bushed assembly as yet as it needs
priming, so I will wait until there is a little more to do than
just a bearing. Once its riveted I can drill the holes for
the bolts.
so with the rear spar sorted for the time being it
was on to the front spar.
Front Spar
Some
match drilling required with the strengthener bars for the front
spar being careful to only drill the holes that are stated in the
plans. The plans then ask you to shape the bars as in the
picture below. Well its been a hot day and I was sweating
buckets after filling down the edges. The ends were rounded
with the scotchbrite wheel. Next comes the bending of the
flanges to 6 degrees, but I decide that's for another day !!!
